A Center for Restorative Solutions
Serving the Greater Seattle Area
Currently in planning, please read the description below from the last program as reference.
The Restorative Justice Leadership Program, is a yearlong mentor program created by A Center for Restorative Solutions. The first cohort comprises 16 people from diverse backgrounds including BIPOC (Black/Indigenous People of Color) and people from the majority white culture who have come together for a year of immersion learning in Nonviolent Communication (NVC) and Restorative Practices (RP). The program structure experientially builds restorative community within and amongst the participants. This promotes restorative methods of learning to be competent practitioners and circle keepers. There is an emphasis on the personal development of core skills and principals, deepening Nonviolent Communication and Restorative Justice practices with intention to bring restorative consciousness and its supporting practices into self, family, community and the workplace. Commitment to Transformative Justice informs the work we are doing around de-centering whiteness. We incorporate and deepen the implicit power analysis as a central thread that informs and guides the learning.
What it looks like:
This year, there are
6 in-person full days of learning
Biweekly online learning calls
Biweekly BIPOC and white caucus calls
Weekly Empathy Buddy pairings
Individual support and mentoring as participants take leadership roles in the learning within the group
Opportunities for participants to create in collaboration within and outside the community
Opportunities to facilitate alongside Pam out in the community as apprentices
Opportunity to become collaborators in the Center’s work beyond completion
Who is it for?
If you have taken workshops through the Center, or have experience with Nonviolent Communication, or RJ so you know this is something you are drawn to commit to.
“At the beginning of the mentorship program, I found that I was stretching to make the sessions and especially the in-person meetings. Six months in, my feelings have flipped, and I find that the mentorship program rises to the top of my priorities. Even with limited time and resources, participation in this learning and connection opportunity is no longer a stretch. I find that, instead, I am stretching in other areas of my life in order to center this.”

Restorative Practice & Compassionate Communication
Restorative Practice & Compassionate Communication requests for mentorship in RJ and NVC led me to call this learning community together. My own experience has borne out that, aligned/attuned community support leads me to shine brighter. The longer I work and deepen my practice of NVC and RP, the more I trust the support of consistent community coming together that I can tap into for wisdom, drop into for nourishment and self-care, and which provides a space where I can hold myself accountable in ways that support my growth, and reduce the impact I have on others. I have come to trust these restorative ways of being together, and they have transformed my work out in the world. I am wanting to share them with you.
The focus is on how to build trust and community through a Restorative Justice framework in a laboratory we create, which will ripple out into whatever community you are working with. Could be your family, school, workplace, broader community. Some sessions will be experiential learning, others will be a lab where you get to bring your community discussion to the group and we will process how and engage with your particular passion, considering restorative culture and to engage with restorative system building. Some sessions will be sharing our learnings and mistakes and unpacking what happened so we all deepen our wisdom.
What is increasingly important is a power analysis, and we will be working with that throughout. What does de-centering mean? How do we draw attention with care to implicit bias and the work of liberating all of us from structural and social oppression? I will never be an expert; we never arrive at a destination. I am committed to this work. It will be present at all times. Perhaps some of you will group together to try some community advocacy support... This will be your lab, I will bring my skills, tools and experience to contribute and support - We are making it happen!
